Cymbalta Withdrawal

What is Cymbalta withdrawal?

Cymbalta is a drug that belongs to the category of serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors. It is used as an antidepressant medication and was the second drug to be approved by the FDA to be used for treatment of fibromyalgia. It is effective in reducing the pain caused in such cases and it works by increasing the levels of the neurotransmitters serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. This helps to regulate mood and reduces the sensation of pain by blocking the pain signals that travel within the brain.

Due to its effect on pain, people feel comfortable and relaxed after its use. People often get addicted to this medication and when they try to quit its use the brain cannot adapt to a sudden absence of the drug. Such a condition is known as cymbalta withdrawal.
